- PublicaciónAcceso abiertoConsumo de alcohol, conducta antisocial e impulsividad en adolescentes españoles(Universidad Católica de Colombia. Facultad de Psicología, 2018-07) Díaz-García, Natalia; Moral-Jiménez, María de la VillaThe relationship between alcohol use and antisocial behaviour in teenagers has been widely reported in previous research. Our main aim was to evaluate this relationship, and also to study how impulsivity influences it. The instruments used were the Rutgers Alcohol Problem Index (RAPI), to evaluate alcohol consumption; the Scale of Antisocial and Criminal Behaviour in Teenagers, and the Barratt Impulsiveness Scale, to assess these behaviors in the youth. The sampling method was non probabilistic and intentional, and the sample consisted of 212 teenagers aged between 12 and 18 years (Average=14.1, SD=1.48). The results showed that the variables which better predict anti-social behaviour in teenagers are alcohol consumption and cognitive impulsiveness. On the other hand, it was found that there are significant differences in antisocial behavior according to gender, but not in terms of alcohol consumption. Regarding age level, significant differences were found in alcohol consumption between all age levels, and in antisocial behavior are concentrated between early and medium adolescence, and between early and late adolescence. The possible implications of the link between alcohol consumption and crime by virtue of the results obtained are discussed.
- PublicaciónAcceso abiertoIdentificación por padres y maestros de síntomas del trastorno por déficit de atención con hiperactividad(Universidad Católica de Colombia. Facultad de Psicología, 2014-07) Hernández-Hernández, Alberto Germán ; Germán-Montiel Ramos, Teresita; Martínez-Borrayo, Juan GerardoIn order to contribute to the epidemiological research on Attention Deficit Disorder with Hyperactivity -ADHD- similarities and differences in the questionnaires completed by parents and teachers were analyzed to identify ADHD symptoms in children attending psychological counseling at the Civil Hospital Fray Antonio Alcalde in Guadalajara, Mexico. Parents and teachers of 168 children (46 girls, 122 boys, mean age 8.2 years) completed, respectively, an 18 items questionnaire, structured from the diagnostic criteria for ADHD in DSM-IV. As a result, the statistical analysis showed moderate agreement between parents and teachers, noting significant differences (p <0.05) in 6 out of the 18 questions. Consistent agreements relate mostly to symptoms of inattention, while observed differences are related to behaviors associated with hyperactivity and impulsivity, where parents gave higher scores. It was also noted that when analyzing separately the results for boys and girls, no significant differences were found in most of the scores given to girls, while discrepancies are mainly observed in the scores given to boys, both of the first and last school grades, with higher scores assigned by parents. It is concluded that parents and teachers give different meaning to the behavior of children, depending on their age and gender, primarily for their attentional control ability and motor activity, both at home and at school.
- PublicaciónAcceso abiertoRelación de la violencia familiar y la impulsividad en una muestra de adolescentes mexicanos(Universidad Católica de Colombia. Facultad de Psicología, 2011-12) Vite-Sierra, ArielThe aim of this study was to evaluate the relationship between domestic violence and impulsivity in a sample of Mexican adolescents and to determine whether variables such as gender, parental anxiety and parenting styles affect that relationship. A total of 344 senior high students of the City of Mexico participated in the study, of which 57 reported violence between their parents. Results indicate a low relationship between violence of the parents and their levels of impulsivity, this relationship being mediated by the degree of presence of the adolescent in such episodes of violence. On the other hand, an authoritarian parenting style is mainly associated with high levels of impulsivity, where anxiety is the mediator of such relationship. Results are discussed in terms of the intergenerational transmission of violence.
