- PublicaciónAcceso abiertoUna ciudad ideal en Bogotá, La Ciudad Universitaria de Bogotá(2006-12) Álvarez-de la Roche, Carlos AndrésThis thesis for a Master in History was carried out with the objective of remarking the origin of the ideas that gave form to the campus of the National University in Bogotá, with the purpose of demonstrating that what has been considered to be the origin of the modern architecture of Colombia is a project without relationship to the place situation represented by the time and the social particularities of the city that harbors it. Historical texts about the development of our modern architecture and texts referred to the period of the German Reconstruction in the years of the republic of Weimar and the Bauhaus were consulted. The conclusion offers an initial concern with regard to the formation of a theoretical discourse that aims to the formulation of a modern Latin American tropical architecture.
- PublicaciónAcceso abiertoGrandes ideas del mundo: una realidad concreta Tensiones en la vivienda unifamiliar moderna, Osorno, Chile(2013-12) Weibel-Fernández, Hugo EduardoThe research deals with the theoretical notion of modernity that focuses on local views, one that addresses the ways in which each locality comes to build its own version of modernity, focusing, from architecture, in modern single family houses in the town of Osorno, Chile, seen as a reflection theme built on the articulation of the particular, the reality of the town, related to global modernization processes. We hypothesize that this joint modulates the expression of the architecture of Osorno single family houses, which has amalgamated local and universal signs, developed in tension between tradition and modernity. This approach, seeking to investigate the sources of these tensions, can explore a path of study of distinctive built expressions of local cultural practices and traditions in the twentieth century
- PublicaciónAcceso abiertoEl plan, acto mesiánico del proyectista: la situación histórica del diseño en la utopía modernizante.(2016-07) Mejía-Amézquita, Valentina; Grisales-Vargas, Adolfo LeónThe disciplinary origins of design are resumed based on the dichotomy between the creative logics of an academic and the logics of a common man without academic training as a project architect. The investigative exercise has allowed to recognize that "built-in" cultural practices and collective bets, understood as an intention approved by a social group, can be seen as the substrate that determines the logics of the projective task that transforms the world. These assumptions were decisive at the moment of establishing the position that would define design as a "third area of human knowledge" from the twentieth century until today. The result of this research invites the reader to take a critical stance against the role of design seen as a discipline that oscillates between what is conceived from the logic of the trained project architect and what is completed by the hands of the worker, in a scenario of multiplicity of de facto coexistences that juxtapose one with the other in concrete places and in determined times.
