Arquitectura para la exhibición de cine en el centro de Bogotá

Abstract

Durante el siglo XX, el cine se consolidó como una manifestación cultural significativa que transformó la vida cotidiana de los habitantes capitalinos y contribuyó con el desarrollo de su infraestructura a la configuración de una nueva ciudad. El centro de Bogotá albergó una muestra representativa de teatros, reflejo de la historia del sector como polo cultural y de divertimento para la ciudad. En este artículo se plantean reflexiones acerca de la arquitectura desarrollada para esta actividad a partir del análisis de algunos edificios representativos que dan cuenta del proceso de consolidación, auge, crisis y nuevo renacer del sistema de exhibición de cine. Se concluye finalmente que la cantidad, variedad y riqueza estética de teatros proyectados y construidos merecen ser conservados como memoria de los procesos urbanos y sociales que ha vivido nuestra ciudad

During the XX century, cinema was consolidated as a significant cultural manifestation that transformed the daily life of the inhabitants of the capital and it contributed with the development from its infrastructure to the configuration of a new city. The center of Bogotá harbored a representative sample of these buildings, examples around of the history of this sector as cultural pole and amusement space. This article is a reflection about the architecture developed for this activity since the analysis of some representative buildings that show the consolidation process, development, crisis and rebirth of the system of cinema exhibition. It concludes that the quantity, variety and aesthetics wealth of built theaters deserve to be preserved as memory of the urban and social processes that our city has lived
